Honey Peppered Pecan Gelato

Ingredients:

  • Ice Cream Maker

 

Instructions: 

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk and vanilla extract over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Stir occasionally.
     
  2. While the milk is heating, combine the egg yolks and granulated sugar in a medium-sized bowl. Use a hand mixer or immersion blender with a whisk attachment to mix until the yolks lighten in color.
     
  3. Once the milk is simmering, remove it from the heat. Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg yolk mixture while whisking continuously. Be sure to get every last drop.
     
  4. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and return it to the heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens slightly, about 3-4 minutes.
     
  5. Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it is frozen and able to scoop.
     
  6. When the gelato is nearly finished, add 1/2 cup of the Honey Peppered Pecans and mix until thoroughly combined.
     
  7. Scrape the gelato into a container with a lid and place it in the freezer for 1-2 hours to firm up.
     
  8. When ready to serve, scoop out your desired amount of gelato, top with a sprinkle of the remaining pecans, and enjoy! top with a little sprinkle of your remaining pecans and enjoy!
