Sweet and Salty Vanilla Popcorn
Recipe from our Vanilla Evangelist Zachary Taffany
Here is the Hawaiian Vanilla popcorn recipe:
I did all the R&D on a “whirly-pop” but any stovetop popping method will work.
Ingredients:
2 oz of medium white hull-less Amish Country popcorn kernels.
2 of of medium yellow Amish Country popcorn kernels.
1/8 cup ghee
1/8 cup unrefined coconut oil
1/2 tbsp pure Hawaiian vanilla extract
3/4 tsp extra fine himalayan pink salt
1 and 1/2 tbsp of sugar
To Make the Vanilla Oil Blend:
Bring ghee and coconut oil up to just above room temperature, so that it becomes liquid.
Mix in vanilla extract until emulsified.
I usually make a large batch as it stores well. The extract will settle if stored, but easily shakes into solution.
To Make Hawaiian Vanilla Popcorn
Add vanilla oil to a large pot and bring to temp over high heat. Add kernels and cook until popping frequency is 1 pop every 1-3 seconds.
Pour popcorn into a mixing bowl or paper bag and immediately apply an even coating with fine pink salt and cane sugar. I apply the salt & sugar mix and shake vigorously.

(Optional: Use an "Oil Mister" to spray some of the vanilla oil blend onto the popcorn after popping! This will help the salt and sugar stick to the popcorn with even distribution of flavors
