Holiday Butter Rum!

This vanilla-infused Butter Rum drink will bring all the magic to your Holiday season. Tracy and Jim would tag-team this recipe in the holiday season and on special occasions. Get your vanilla rum straight from our store or make your own magic using the instructions below.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. butter (I used unsalted)
  • 1 lb. brown sugar
  • 1 lb. confectioners sugar
  • 4 Cups Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
  • 1 to 1 1/2 oz. Vanilla Rum per serving
  • Whipped cream
  • Cinnamon, to sprinkle on top

Method:

Making Vanilla Rum

To craft your own Vanilla Rum, simply start with three vanilla beans in a bottle (we sell some HERE). Add your rum of choice so the beans are completely submerged. Shake about once or twice a week and after about eight weeks, your alcohol will have transformed into delicious vanilla rum!

Making Butter Mixture

Combine sugar and butter in a heavy bottomed pot over medium heat, stirring often until butter is melted, sugar is dissolved and the mixture is somewhat bubbly around the edges. Remove from heat and stir in ice cream. Allow to cool. Pour this mixture into a plastic pitcher and put in the freezer to keep until ready to serve

Reheat your desired amount (for a single serving about 1/4 cup or for a large crowd, the whole batch) slowly in a large pot and re-pour into the pitcher. For each serving, add Vanilla Rum into a glass, add 1/4 of the mixture, and fill the rest with hot water. Stir gently and for a fancy occasion, top with whipped cream and cinnamon (recommended!).

This makes a lot, but it keeps really well in the freezer. The perfect reason to invite friends over for a movie night (and it goes great with hot, buttered popcorn!)

Enjoy responsibly!
